Phuket Kids Social Responsibility

Phuket Kids Social Responsibility

At Phuket Kids, social responsibility sits at the heart of everything we do. As a community-focused platform, Phuket Kids is committed to supporting meaningful initiatives across the island that positively impact children, families, and vulnerable groups. Wherever possible, the aim is to give back locally and contribute to a more inclusive, thoughtful Phuket community.

Reducing Our Footprint, Increasing Our Impact

Phuket Kids actively works to reduce its environmental footprint through the way guides and resources are produced and shared. Over recent years, the community has been encouraged to download digital versions of school and activity guides in order to reduce paper waste. While many families still enjoy having a physical guide in hand, the number of printed copies has been significantly reduced.

This shift prompted an important question: what happens to printed guides once newer editions are released? Rather than allowing these resources to go to waste or be recycled in ways that generate additional carbon output, Phuket Kids sought a more purposeful, community-driven solution.

Giving Old Guides a New Purpose

After exploring ways to reuse printed materials meaningfully, Phuket Kids identified opportunities to support organisations working with people with visual impairments and children with additional needs. By repurposing printed guides, these materials can be transformed into learning tools that directly benefit others.

One such organisation is the Thailand Association of the Blind (TABOD) — a national organisation that supports people with visual impairments across Thailand, including through regional activity in Phuket. TAB plays a key role in advocacy, education access, and the production of Braille learning materials, ensuring individuals with visual impairments are supported to live independently and with dignity.

Rather than being pulped or discarded, printed materials can be repurposed into Braille resources, allowing educational content to continue serving its purpose in a new and meaningful way.

Supporting Inclusive Organisations in Phuket

In addition to national organisations with regional reach, Phuket Kids also recognises the importance of supporting local disability and special needs organisations on the island. Phuket is home to several foundations, learning centres, and community groups that support children with disabilities, developmental differences, and additional learning needs.

In addition to national initiatives, Phuket Kids also recognises the importance of supporting local disability and special needs organisations on the island. Phuket is home to several foundations, learning centres, and community groups that support children with disabilities, developmental differences, and additional learning needs.

Local organisations making a difference include:

  • Sailability Phuket Foundation, which offers inclusive sailing experiences for children and adults with physical, sensory, and cognitive challenges, building confidence and independence through adaptive water sports.
  • Phuket Special Education Centre, which supports children with developmental and learning needs through specialised education and collaboration with foundations and public services.
  • Child Watch Phuket Foundation, a long-standing organisation supporting vulnerable and at-risk children on the island, helping them access education, care, and protection.
  • Asia Center Foundation, which focuses on education, life skills, and youth development for disadvantaged children in Phuket.

By highlighting and supporting these organisations, Phuket Kids aims to help strengthen an inclusive community where every child is given the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Why This Matters

Education remains one of the most powerful tools for empowerment. For children with visual impairments or additional needs, access to appropriate learning materials and supportive environments can open doors to independence, confidence, and lifelong learning. Seeing educational content repurposed to support children who learn differently is a powerful reminder of how small actions can create meaningful impact.

Phuket Kids shares the vision held by many of these organisations: that empowering children with disabilities is a collective responsibility. Inclusion does not happen by chance, it requires awareness, collaboration, and ongoing support from schools, families, and community organisations alike.

Getting Involved

Phuket Kids encourages international schools, learning centres, and families on the island to consider how they can support local disability initiatives, whether through donations, volunteering, or awareness-raising. Small actions, when multiplied across a community, can make a significant difference.

If your school or organisation would like to get involved or learn more about community initiatives supported by Phuket Kids, please get in touch directly.

Together, we can help create a more inclusive Phuket, one where every child is valued, supported, and given the chance to reach their full potential.
