The festive season is one of the most fun times to get children involved in the kitchen, especially when creating Christmastastic treats. Kids love helping out and coming up with their own ideas for festive snacks, whether for a holiday party or a special Christmas breakfast. Some of my happiest childhood memories involved sticky fingers covered in sprinkles and watching marshmallow snowmen sink into steaming cups of hot chocolate! Here are some of our favourite simple yet delightful treats that the whole family can enjoy making together.
Marshmallow Snowman

Do you want to build a snowman? Kids will have a ball making their own snowmen out of marshmallows, pretzel sticks, and coloured icing tubes. You can line them up on trays, pop them atop cakes, or float them in mugs of rich hot chocolate. Perfect for a cosy Phuket cool season afternoon!
Christmas Tree Brownies

Start with a tray of gooey chocolate brownies and cut into triangles once cooled. Decorate with sprinkles, candy stars, or colourful icing swirls to create your own festive trees. Add a candy cane as the tree trunk, and voilà little edible Christmas trees for snacking or gifting to friends and neighbours.
Santa Hat Brownies

A true Christmas classic! Using small round brownie or cheesecake shapes, slice a fresh strawberry and place it on top. Pipe on whipped cream or vanilla frosting to form a perfect Santa hat. These are simple, delicious, and ideal for little hands to help assemble.
Perfect Festive Pancakes

For years, this has been some family’s go-to Christmas breakfast. Make fluffy buttermilk pancakes and let the children get creative with cookie cutters gingerbread men, stars, circles, or even mini Christmas trees. Add a little green food colouring to the batter for a festive twist, or layer pancakes into fun chocolate-sandwich style treats. Sprinkle with seasonal decorations to make breakfast extra special before heading out to the beach or family outings in Phuket.
Candy Cane Hearts

This one looks impressive but is surprisingly easy. Arrange pairs of candy canes facing each other to form a heart on a baking paper–lined tray. Preheat the oven to 120°C and warm for 5–8 minutes, checking often as they soften quickly. Bend gently to fuse the tips into a solid heart and leave to cool.
Break smaller candy canes into pieces and melt chocolate in small pans. Fill the centre of each candy cane heart with the chocolate and smooth it. For a marbled effect, alternate white and dark chocolate and swirl with a toothpick. While soft, sprinkle crushed candy cane pieces on top, then refrigerate until set. Stunning, festive candy hearts ready to wow friends and family!
Most importantly, enjoy the process, make memories, and have a very Merry Christmas.
